Dr. Ken Foxman
Ph. D.
Director, Special Projects
Dr. Ken Foxman has worked in the mental health field since 1988. After graduating from the University of California, Irvine, Dr. Foxman matriculated at the California School of Professional Psychology, Los Angeles campus (APA Accredited) to obtain both his Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology (1992) and, after gaining experience in the field, his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (2001).
Dr. Foxman's training led to his Internship for a pre‐doctoral candidacy at Camarillo Hospital and Developmental Center (PA Accredited), where he was trained on the specialized Clinical Research Unit (CRU), as well as the Male Adolescent and Children's Units (MACU). His experience working with youth who were diagnosed with Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Post‐Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and Unipolar Depression had a profound effect on Dr. Foxman's decision to work with individuals suffering from such disorders later in his career. Dr. Foxman's post graduate experience included intensive psychiatric rehabilitation and case management with individuals suffering from severe and persistent mental illnesses. Dr. Foxman found it challenging yet exciting to work with clients in their homes as well as in other community settings.
Dr. Foxman's experience working with clients who suffer from substance abuse mirrored his experience working in the mental health field, as the two illnesses were often diagnosed within the same person (dual‐diagnosis). Dr. Foxman has developed and implemented substance abuse and dual‐diagnosis programs in both Los Angeles and Orange Counties, discovering that recovery from an illness, whether psychological or based on substance abuse, requires great courage coupled with an integrative approach to effective treatment.
